Top Ten Tuesday 03/03/2015

top ten tuesday

So I realize I’m posting this on Thursday March 5, but I am going to edit the publish date to Tuesday March 3 because I missed this Top Ten Tuesday and this is a week I didn’t want to miss. It’s definitely going to include some books that haven’t made any of my top ten lists before. As always Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is…

Top Ten Books You Would Classify as ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOKS From the Past 3 Years

1.) The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

2.) Pretty Little Liars (Book 1) by Sara Shepard

3.) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

4.) Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne

5821978 162085 2767052 12753231

5.) Nantucket Blue by Leila Howland

6.) Five Summers by Una LaMarche

7.) Rules of Summer by Joanna Philbin

8.) Second Chance Summer & Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

13597696 16101148 15723152 11071466 7664334

9.) Compulsion by Martina Boone

10.) Rites of Passage by Joy N. Hensley

20759498 18285437

Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de RosnayThis Is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E SmithLiv, Forever by Amy TalkingtonThe Bargaining by Carly Anne WestMoonglass by Jessi KirbyTen by Gretchen McNeilSleepaway Girls by Jen Calonita, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs, Magnolia by Kristi Cook, The Perfectionists by Sara Shepard, The S-Word by Chelsea Pitcher, Appaloosa Summer by Tudor Robins, Lost Summer by Alex McAulay, The Summer of Firsts and Lasts by Terra Elan McVoy, Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler, Truly, Madly, Deadly by Hannah Jayne, Looking for Alaska by John Green, Things I Can’t Forget by Miranda Kenneally, Laguna Cove by Alyson Noel, If He Had Been with Me by Laura Nowlin

Okay so I went way past ten books but honestly how was I supposed to ONLY pick ten? I extended my list to thirty books, and they are in no particular order, I just only included pictures for the first 10. If someone asked me to fill a box with my favorite books from the past 3 years and give it to someone, these are the books I’d put in there. I know I have to be leaving some out too that I really enjoyed but I just currently can’t think of, plus thirty seemed like a good number to stop at.

 top ten tuesday

So I skipped quite a few Tuesdays these past 2 months but I am back on the wagon! A perfect week to start Top Ten Tuesday because this week’s topic is Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn’t Get To. There is a lot of 2014 releases I unfortunately did not get to last year so my top ones will make this list.

Since Last Summer by Joanna Philbin                  Nantucket Red by Leila Howland

                 18634795                               18453185

I read and loved both of the first novels of the above series and am so mad at myself that I have not read their sequels yet. I will definitely be reading these two soon.

Toxic by Sara Shepard                                                    Vicious by Sara Shepard

                                  18599776                                            20958250

Get Even by Gretchen McNeil                                   Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson

                      20483075                                                         18189606

Two authors I absolutely love and can’t wait to read their new titles.

Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy                               We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

               18053148                                              16143347

I’ve heard nothing but good things about both these books that were on my TBR list last year and that I never got around to reading.

Say Her Name by James Dawson                                 Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas

18621200                                          19732381

These both have been on my TBR list last year and I finally got both for Christmas because they had to be ordered from Book Depository since they haven’t (or at the time weren’t) published in the US.

Pointe by Brandy Colbert                                                  Feral by Holly Schindler

13360957                                           15782742

These two I forgot about for a while but they are both ones I cannot wait to read.

My Last Kiss by Bethany Neal

18465608

I have ordered this book 4 times, yes 4 times, and have yet to ever receive it in the mail. I have always been refunded after getting an email saying they are out of stock or they can’t find it or it was lost in the mail. I want to read this so bad! Hopefully the fifth time will be the charm.

So those are my 2014 releases that I never got around to reading. I couldn’t keep it down to 10 books so I had to add 3 extra. I’m hoping I get around to reading all 13 within the next 2 months, but knowing me it probably won’t happen.

Top Ten Tuesday 11/18/2014

top ten tuesday

Wow so it’s been a couple of shaky weeks since the end of October. I go to college five days a week, had to unfortunately drop one of my five classes, and I had been working close to 40 hours a week. I apologize for not keeping up on my posts. I have read a good amount of books between then and now and will hopefully get around to posting a review on all of them. Of course after so long it is a little difficult to review a book but if it comes to that I may just do a post with the titles and my rating for those books. I need to start keeping a book journal again so I can keep track of what I read when I’m done each book. I promise there will be more reviews now. I finally got my hours cut back (and yes I am happy about that) so I have a good amount of time in between my classes and when I have to be at work.

Now onto this week’s Top Ten Tuesday. I really like the topic this week because I am big on series/trilogies, so there are a good amount of sequels I am looking forward to. I’m not going to keep this list exclusive to books that have not come out yet because there are quite a few sequels that have been published and I just haven’t bought them yet. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week’s topic is…

Top Ten Sequels I Can’t Wait To Get

1.) P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han – This is the sequel to To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Loved the first book as well as Jenny Han’s other books as well.

15749186

2.) Fire with Fire by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian – Back to Jenny Han…I really liked Burn for Burn but haven’t had the chance to get Fire with Fire yet.

10662420

3.) Secrets and Lies by Jacqueline Green – Truth or Dare is definitely on my top ten list for this year and I am so anxious to read Secrets and Lies.

18431723

4.) Toxic (Pretty Little Liars #15) by Sara Shepard – I guess this isn’t considered a sequel but I’m still keeping it on my list. I am so happy that the series is finally coming to an end and cannot wait to see how it all ends.

18599776

5.) The Good Girls by Sara Shepard – Sequel to The Perfectionists and am sooo excited for this one to be released. I absolutely loved the first book and cannot wait to see where this series goes.

23171368

6.) Never Have I Ever (The Lying Game #2) by Sara Shepard – I started this series but have not got around to getting past the first book but I really want to read the whole series.

9266793

7.) The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin – I read the first book and was kind of confused but would love to reread it and then continue the trilogy because I hear so many good things about it.

13643567

8.) The Companion Novel to The Fine Art of Pretending by Rachel Harris – Not an actual sequel but I’m including it because it’s a companion novel and will have feature the same characters. I loved TFAOP and cannot wait for more.

17696131

9.) From Bad to Cursed by Katie Alender – I read Bad Girls Don’t Die a while ago and enjoyed it and would really like to read the other two in the trilogy.

9004758

10.) The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey – Loved, loved, loved The 5th Wave and cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel.

18249281

11.) Persuasion (The Heirs of Watson Island #2) by Martina Boone – I had to add a #11 because this is probably the most anticipated sequel on this list. Compulsion is so far my favorite book I have read in 2014 (or possibly ever) and so I am very excited for it’s sequel as well as the rest of the series.

20759498

This was actually harder than I thought. I own a lot of series or first books in a series that I haven’t read yet. I hate starting a series if I can’t continue it. I’m sure there is probably more I haven’t thought of but these are definitely the ones I am looking forward to the most.

While I usually post both a book review and my Top Ten Tuesday post on Tuesdays, I am going to cut back to just doing Top Ten Tuesdays today and every following Tuesday. That way I can schedule the review I would be posting today another day and can fill out the weeks a little better as classes get crazier. As you all probably know by now, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. I am really excited for this week’s topic because I feel like I will easily reach ten authors with no problem, sooooo this Tuesday’s topic is:

Top Ten Underrated Authors or Books in X genre

I am going to fill it in Top Ten Underrated Young Adult Authors. For pictures this week I am going to include a picture of my personal favorite from that particular author. I apologize if you think I misplace an author on here, but these are authors I feel like are underrated for whatever reason whether it be I don’t see many blog reviews on their books or I don’t hear people talk about them a lot.

1.) Alyson Noel – I love her books, especially her standalone ones like Saving Zoe, Laguna Cove, Kiss & Blog, Faking 19 and…

2119375

2.) Abbi Glines – I really liked The Vincent Boys which led me to read Fallen Too Far and fall in love with it

16070903 (1)

3.) Jessi Kirby – After falling head over heels in love with Moonglass I have really enjoyed her other novel as well

8535449

4.) Nina de Gramont – I hadn’t heard of her until I randomly picked up Every Little Thing in the World and cannot wait to read her other books

6614707

5.) Miranda Kenneally – I love, love, love all of her books that I have read so far

c_stealingparker1

6.) Emmy Laybourne – Everyone is all ga-ga over The Hunger Games, yet her trilogy Monument 14 was so much more terrifying and realistic

12753231

7.) Sarah Ockler – When it comes to me forget Sarah Dessen, I love Sarah Ockler’s books especially…

image

8.) Sara Shepard – Everyone only knows her for Pretty Little Liars, but she has written The Lying Game series, other novels and has another YA thriller-mystery series coming out soon (more or less underrated for her other novels)

20549288

9.) Lauren Barnholdt – Definitely one of my top ten favorite authors

1672727

10.) Susane Colasanti – I really have enjoyed every one of her novels so far but never see any reviews for them

something-like-fate

So there are my Top Ten Underrated Young Adult Authors. This list was definitely the easiest and quickest I have made in the history of Top Ten Tuesdays.

Top Ten Tuesday 08/02/2014

ttt

As everyone is generally headed back to school this week, The Broke and the Bookish have made this week’s Top Ten Tuesday a back to school theme. The theme itself sounds pretty easy but I can guarantee you now, it is going to take me 15-20 minutes to write this post and come up with ten characters. This week’s theme is…

Top Ten Book Characters That Would Be Sitting At My Lunch Table

1.) Hannah Marin from Pretty Little Liars

2.) Maddie Fynn from Death Date

3.) Bridget from The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants

4.) Sydney Biggs from Every Little Thing in the World

5.) Aly from The Fine Art of Pretending

I think I am going to leave this post at five characters that would be sitting at my lunch table. The next characters are ones I would want to sit at my table. (More or less for hotness factor, ect.)

1.) Caleb from Pretty Little Liars (Imagining if he is as hot as he is in the TV show)

2.) Peeta from The Hunger Games (Should be self explanatory)

3.) Four/Tobias from Divergent (Same as Caleb)

I’ll leave it at those three. Three hunky man candies would be plenty for my lunch table.

I apologize for my lack of pictures, details, as well as effort in this Top Ten Tuesday. I generally type up my TTT the night before and schedule for it’s posting on Tuesday. As of now, it is more like really early morning of Tuesday (around 3am) and I am struggling to stay awake as I type this. This was also a harder TTT topic than usual for myself, so I do apologize. I can promise that next week’s will be amazing.

The Perfectionists by Sara Shepard

I cannot even begin to describe how happy I was to see Sara Shepard is writing another young adult mystery series. I love Pretty Little Liars so much and The Perfectionists has so much potential to become big like PLL. I loved the similarities, but also how The Perfectionists is also more intense than Pretty Little Liars was in the beginning.

The Perfectionists by Sara Shepard

Expected Publication: October 7, 2014

From the author of the #1 New York Times bestselling series Pretty Little Liars comes a thrilling new novel about five perfect girls who are framed for a murder they didn’t commit.

In Beacon Heights, Washington, five girls—Ava, Caitlin, Mackenzie, Julie, and Parker—know that you don’t have to be good to be perfect. At first the girls think they have nothing in common, until they realize that they all hate Nolan Hotchkiss, who’s done terrible things to each of them. They come up with the perfect way to kill him—a hypothetical murder, of course. It’s just a joke…until Nolan turns up dead, in exactly the way they planned. Only, they didn’t do it. And unless they find the real killer, their perfect lives will come crashing down around them.

From Sara Shepard, author of the #1 New York Times bestselling Pretty Little Liars series, comes another story of dark secrets, shocking twists, and what happens when five beautiful girls will do anything to hide the ugly truth.

(Summary from Goodreads)

With Pretty Little Liars finally coming to an end, I am so happy to see Sara Shepard coming out with a fresh new young adult mystery series. The summary makes it seem very similar to Pretty Little Liars, but I assure you it is not. Every chapter is in a different character’s perspective (Ava, Caitlin, Mackenzie, Julie and Parker). I raced through this book because it dragged you into the story and I had to know what was going to happen next to each girl. I feel like The Perfectionists had more action and suspense than any of the first few Pretty Little Liars books. I liked that the story was fast paced and left the end hanging.

Each of the girls, Ava, Caitlin, Mackenzie, Julie and Parker, are dealing with issues of their own. A lot of their issues are related to Nolan Hotchkiss who seems like that one kid in high school who everyone secretly hated, but were friendly to his face. I was not disappointed that he got what was coming to him. In every chapter, the girls face issues with both their personal problems and problems related to the murder of Nolan. Besides Nolan, there are a few other antagonists that add to the issues in each girls lives. I did love the five girls, but I don’t know if I love them as much as I love Spencer, Aria, Emily and Hannah.

I absolutely loved The Perfectionists. I already added it to my Birthday/Christmas wish list along with the sequel if it’s available for pre-order by then. I did tweet Sara Shepard after finished the book to express my love and asking when I could expect the sequel to be published. Unfortunately we will be waiting until April 2015, but I cannot wait to find out what happens next to this group of characters! The book is also in the works to become a show on the CW (the same channel that aired Gossip Girl and currently airs The Vampire Diaries), so I am also really excited to watch it.

I haven’t done a Top Ten Tuesday in a couple of weeks and this one is going to be tough. I don’t have many friends who read and the one that I do, I am usually the one who is recommending books to him. After I name the few that I have been told I need to read, I am going to finish out my list of 10 with books that I have been recommended over and over on Goodreads and Amazon. As always, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is:

Top Ten Books People Have Been Telling You That You MUST Read

1.) The Harry Potter series – This has to be the one I get the most when I say I have never read them (nor do I have any intention to (no offense))

3

2.) Gone Girl – I actually do plan on reading this but I just have to get through a lot of other books first

19288043

3.) Anna and the French Kiss – Also planning on reading this really soon

6936382

4.) The Clique – (From when I was in middle school) All my friends were reading this and I feel like I’m the only who never read the series

890143

5.) The Hunger Games – I finally did read the trilogy but only after I watched the movie (I wasn’t interested in either at the time and every person that told me to read them I wanted to punch in the face)

2767052

6.) L.A. Candy – Yeah another one I have no intention of reading

4758093

7.) Sarah Dessen in general – I bought Keeping the Moon for $1.99 after people were recommending Sarah Dessen book’s for years and I really liked it (Someone Like You…not so much)

104378

8.) Pretty Little Liars – Years ago when only the first 4 books were out I was being recommended he first book on Amazon all the time and a few people at school were talking about it, now 15 books later I cannot wait for it to all be over..

162085

9.) Monument 14 – I had heard good reviews and was being recommended it on Amazon a lot last November, I ended up buying it on vacation and the lady who owns the (super tiny) bookstore even said it was good

12753231

10.) Divergent – I have the first book I just haven’t gotten a chance to read it yet

13335037

So these ten were a lot easier than I expected once I thought back a few years into high school. I will get around to reading some that I haven’t yet, as for Harry Potter and L.A. Candy, I am not sure I will ever read them.

Thank goodness for a super easy week for Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. So you’re probably wondering what is this week’s super, incredibly easy topic? Well this week’s topic is:

Ten Authors I Own The Most Books From

1.) Sara Shepard (17)

2.) Alyson Noel (7)

3.) Susane Colasanti (5)

9.) Deb Caletti (4)

10.) Nicole Polizzi (Snooki) (4)

An honorable mention that just missed the list:

-Abbi Glines (I have 2 paperback copies of her books & 3 Kindle versions)

16070903

Yes, yes, yes…I have four books written by Nicole Polizzi (Snooki) and yes I have read all four of them and am no ashamed either. I was a fan of both Snooki and the show Jersey Shore and am still a loyal fan of Snooki. If you want to judge me go ahead but seriously if you are, get off your high horse. (Baby Bumps was actually a really good book and gave you insight to a real pregnancy. She didn’t sugar coat it like most do, she told it how it is and I liked that she was so honest.) Rant done.

As for the rest of the books, I felt like Sara Shepard was a given. She’s written 17 books in the Pretty Little Liars series so far with one more coming this winter, and she also wrote The Lying Game series which I serious need to finish. I’d say about half of the author’s books that made my list, I haven’t even read yet. I will get around to it but as of now they are pretty low on my priority list.

Did any of the authors that made my list also make yours? If so which ones and how high or low on your list were they compared to mine?

As always, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is:

Top Ten Favorite Movies or TV Shows

I’m going to post ten for each just because I feel like it 🙂

Top Ten Favorite Movies:

1.) Disney Princess Movies – Based on my mood of the day (Brave, Frozen, The Princess and the Frog, Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Sleeping Beauty, Tangled)

2.) Pitch Perfect – Absolutely love this movie and cannot wait for the second

3.) Ten Things I Hate About You – Classic 90’s movie

4.) She’s All That – Another classic 90’s movie

5.) Boys and Girls – Once again another classic 90’s movie

6.) American Pie – Last classic 90’s movie I swear

7.) Tomorrow, When the War Began – Australian movie based off of the first book in series, loved it

8.) How I Live Now – Not quite like the book, but I still really enjoyed it

9.) The Hunger Games – That’s pretty much a given

10.) The Parent Trap – Loved this movie growing up and I still love it now

(Can you tell I grew up in the 90’s?)

disney_princesses___magic_dreams_by_silentmermaid21-d4sb2jx

Top Ten Favorite TV Shows

1.) Dance Moms – As an ex-competitive dancer, there is no way I couldn’t love this show

2.) Pretty Little Liars – Love it even though it’s way different than the books

3.) Twisted – Just started watching this on Netflix and I’m addicted

4.) The Walking Dead – Loveeeee it

5.) American Horror Story – This may be my most favorite tv show out of all ten..I mean come on just look at Evan Peters ❤

images (1)

6.) Toddlers and Tiaras – Don’t judge me

7.) The Big Bang Theory

8.) Two Broke Girls

9.) The Night Shift – New show but I’m already in love with it

10.) America’s Got Talent – I watch this every summer with my mom and it’s actually pretty interesting

10330497_712132632156056_1564945757992652077_n

If certain shows weren’t cancelled *cough cough* The Lying Game, Make It or Break It, Chasing Nashville *cough cough* they also would have made the list. I’m thoroughly pissed that The Lying Game was cancelled though because I really enjoyed that show. ABC Family has a tendency it seems to cancel shows before they can get an ending and that pisses me off more than it probably should.

Anyhow, those are my top ten favorite movies and my top ten favorite TV shows. Do you enjoy watching any of the same shows or movies that made it to my list?

Sunday Funday

So I saw this survey on another blog and thought it would be something fun and different to do today and possibly every Sunday as well. I do have a review to post tomorrow and another for later this week. I will also be back to doing Top Ten Tuesday this week as well. I have also rented a ton of books from the library. (They let you rent up to 100 books at a time! I only rented 10 though.) So I am going through those pretty quickly because I have a few I bought that I want to read, as well as a long list of other books I’d like to rent. So today I’m going to be doing the A to Z Bookish Survey which was created by The Perpetual Page Turner, and it looked like a lot of fun so here are my answers 🙂

AtoZsurvey-1017x1024

Author You’ve Read The Most From:

Sara Shepard (That should be a given, Pretty Little Liars alone is already up to 17 books, plus add in The Lying Game series.)

Best Sequel Ever:

It’s Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han

Currently Reading:

What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick

Drink Of Choice While Reading:

Water, really that is all I ever drink besides some iced tea or Gatorade here and there

E-reader Or Physical Book?

Hands down physical books. I love the smell of a new book and just having it physically in my hands, but I also used the Kindle app and Bluefire Reader app on my iPad to read books from NetGalley and if a book I want to read is really cheap for the Kindle.

Fictional Character You Probably Would Have Dated In High School?

This one is tough, I’ll edit it later when I can decide.

*Update: I have an answer!*

Carson Ortiz from Don’t Look Back, Review Posted Here

Glad You Gave This Book A Chance:

Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Hidden Gem Book:

Moonglass by Jessi Kirby

Important Moment In Your Reading Life:

Learning about NetGalley. I had no idea that bloggers could get access to advanced copies to review and after I learned about NetGally, I have been able to access so many books.

Just Finished:

To All the Boy’s I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Kinds Of Books You Won’t Read:

Honestly, I am not into YA fantasy novels. I know Harry Potter and books with dragons and stuff are really popular, but I just never was able to get into it.

Longest Book You’ve Read:

Beach Blondes by Katherine Applegate (721 pages)

*Beat out The Year I Turned Sixteen by 1 page*

Major Book Hangover Because:

The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy by Jenny Han (My favorite books if you haven’t been able to tell.)

Number Of Bookcases You Own:

Well I have one of those cubby shelves that has like six square sections and I have used up 4 of them for books (the other 2 have my dvds) and then I have 3 shelves on my wall, and I have officially run out of room so I now have a stack on my desk.

One Book You Have Read Multiple Times:

Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler – Seriously though, this book never gets old to reread.

Preferred Place To Read:

In bed or outside on my porch or deck if the weather is nice. (I’d love to add a hammock to my backyard though.)

Quote That Inspires You/Gives You All The Feels From A Book You’ve Read:

I’ll have to get back to this one. (Rushing now that dinner is ready…opps.)

Reading Regret:

Turning my nose up at The Hunger Games. I finally did read them after I watched the movie on Netflix just to see what the big deal was and of course I fell in love.

Series You Started And Need To Finish (all books are out in series):

The Lying Game by Sara Shepard – Literally the only series I need to finish. All the others I am reading, the books aren’t all out yet.

Three Of Your All Time Favorite Books:

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson, Ten by Gretchen McNeil, and To All the Boy’s I’ve Loved Before by Jenny Han

Unapologetic Fangirl For:

Jenny Han, I love every single one of her YA books that she has written. I buy them as soon as they come out, or preorder them even, and have never been disappointed.

Very Excited For This Release More Than All Others:

This is tricky, I have a top three that are all equal with each other, 1.) P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han, the sequel to To All the Boy’s I’ve Loved Before (Anticipated release date is April 2016 so I’ve got a while to wait.) 2.) Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas, 3.) They All Fall Down by Roxanne St. Claire

Worst Bookish Habit:

I tend to let my TBR list get wayyyy out of control. As of now there’s close to 300 books on it, and that isn’t counting the written lists I have around my room. I tend to sometimes get so excited about the next book I’m planning on reading that I have to take a minute to calm down and focus on the one I’m in the middle of. (I wish I could read two books at once…)

X Marks The Spot: Start at the top left of your shelf and pick the 27th book:

Waiting for You by Susane Colasanti

Your Latest Book Purchase:

17 First Kisses by Rachael Allen and The Night She Disappeared and The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die both by April Henry

ZZZ-snatcher Book (the last book that kept you up WAY late):

Don’t Look Back by Jennifer L. Armentrout – Such a good psychological thriller and mysterythat I couldn’t stop reading and put it down.

Wow…that took a lot longer than I originally anticipated. So like I said, I might do bookish surveys every Sunday just as a relaxed, fun posting day. I do have two reviews waiting to go up this week and will be participating in Top Ten Tuesday again as well, so be on the lookout for those posts.
