After not blogging for about 2 years I felt it was necessary to update my “About the Blogger” section because so much has changed. I never thought I would have came back to blogging after leaving last time. I am so happy that I have decided to come back and start reviewing again.
For those of you who are new followers or maybe this is just your first time reading this, I’m Sarah. I’m 26 years old and currently a full time college student. My major is Elementary Education. I haven’t decided on a dual major or specializations yet but I am thinking Spanish and English. I’m hoping to teach anywhere between second to fifth grade. I also work full time for a background screening company in the public records department. Basically running criminal and civil background checks and reporting what needs to be to the client. In the past, between school and work I wasn’t getting much time to myself to read and blog. Since January though I have been reading a lot and staying on my goal of 30 books read in 2019. (Kept it lower than I would have in the past, but comparing it to 2018, I was trying to keep my number realistic.)
In the past I have mainly read young adult fiction. As of the end of 2018 I began to get into adult thrillers, mysteries and contemporary romances. Although I am reading them, my heart still currently lies with young adult fiction. I read all genres within young adult from contemporary, romance, thrillers, whatever. I’m not too big on fantasy though but there are a few that I have read and enjoyed. I love trilogies but have mixed feelings on series. I feel like three books is a great way to extend a story but some series are just way too long. I have a never ending (and I mean that literally) TBR list on Goodreads. I am constantly going through it and removing some books I’m no longer into reading, but for every 1 book removed it seems like I had 5 more. There are so many books I want to read and I am so afraid I won’t have enough time to get to them all. I am total old school when it comes to reading. I prefer a physical, hard copy over a electronic copy. I love the way a new book smells and yes I will flip through the pages of a new book while sniffing it. I’m also what I feel like a lot of people would call a “closet reader”. I’m not ashamed of my love of reading but it also isn’t something many people know about me. I feel like with a lot of new people I meet, the topic of books just doesn’t come up and I also don’t feel like I need to explain myself to another person my age who thinks I am crazy for actual enjoying to read.
Other than reading I would say I am your typical 26 year old girl. I love to dance. I was a dancer growing up for 15 years, up until I graduated high school. I did competitive dance for half of that time. If you watch Dance Moms, I swear it wasn’t anywhere near as dramatic. I also was involved in a club at my school that focused on history and current political events. We participated in the yearly Model UN that American University hosted in DC. For a while I thought I would enjoy a job in politics but that definitely helped me clear that up. I also enjoy going out with my friends on the weekends, going to the beach and camping when it is warm outside, and binge watching Netflix, Hulu, HBO GO, etc. I also have 2 chihuahuas. One boy, George, and one girl, Maisey. They are my little babies and follow me everywhere. They also love when I spend lazy afternoons lounging and reading because that means a few hours of uninterrupted snuggles and naps.
Anyways I guess that is about it. Also I want to say thank you to everyone who has followed my blog so far, shared it, commented and read my posts. It means a lot and has definitely helped me gain more confidence when it comes to posting reviews and other topics on here. It’s also great to know that I have so much in common with other YA readers out there, so thank you again and you have no idea how much it all means to me. I also want to send a HUGE thank you to everyone (especially you authors!) who have shared my posts on Twitter. The day I searched my blog’s name and saw those Tweets, my heart immediately swelled up.
You can contact me with questions or suggestions at my blog related email:
*I will read and consider all requests to read and review a book, but if it does not fall into the YA genre, I likely will pass on it as I am trying to keep my blog strictly YA based.*
