top ten tuesday

Woo hoo, first Top Ten Tuesday post of 2016 and better late then never, right? I recently started posting reviews again and am hoping to post 1 per week. I recently went from ‘undecided’ as my major to ‘pre-nursing’ so college is kicking my ass right now which is why my posts have kind of been few and far between this year. I really want to try to get at least 1 review posted a week though. I also want to do a Top Ten Tuesday every now and then and I really liked this week’s topic so here it goes…

Ten Books To Read If You Are In The Mood For X

X = Summer (surprise, surprise)

1.) Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler

(Two more I just thought of that I LOVED…

Between Us and the Moon by Rebecca Maizel

The Summer After You and Me by Jennifer Salvato Doktorski )

top ten tuesday

So yay I am so far staying on top of my Top Ten Tuesday posts! So far I am loving my new job and it has already given me so much extra time to read so I will be posting a book review tomorrow morning. I am so happy to finally get back to reading and posting like before. Anyways Top Ten Tuesday is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish who create a new topic for each week. This week’s topic is, Ten Books For Readers Who Like _________. Each blogger can choose what to fill in the blank with so I am choosing…

Ten Books For Readers Who Like Young Adult Romances

1.) The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy by Jenny Han

2.) Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler

3.) Moonglass by Jessi Kirby

4.) The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks

10.) Between Us and the Moon by Rebecca Maizel *Expected Publishing Date 6/2015*

2286482920807316

These are my top picks when it comes to young adult romance that I have read. Numbers 9 and 10 are not yet published and I was lucky to have a chance to read a review copy of each, but both were so good that they had to be on this list. I’ve posted a review on Wrong About the Guy and look for my review on Between Us and the Moon tomorrow morning! These are two 2015 releases you won’t want to pass up.

top ten tuesday

So I realize I’m posting this on Thursday March 5, but I am going to edit the publish date to Tuesday March 3 because I missed this Top Ten Tuesday and this is a week I didn’t want to miss. It’s definitely going to include some books that haven’t made any of my top ten lists before. As always Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is…

Top Ten Books You Would Classify as ALL TIME FAVORITE BOOKS From the Past 3 Years

1.) The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

2.) Pretty Little Liars (Book 1) by Sara Shepard

3.) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Okay so I went way past ten books but honestly how was I supposed to ONLY pick ten? I extended my list to thirty books, and they are in no particular order, I just only included pictures for the first 10. If someone asked me to fill a box with my favorite books from the past 3 years and give it to someone, these are the books I’d put in there. I know I have to be leaving some out too that I really enjoyed but I just currently can’t think of, plus thirty seemed like a good number to stop at.

 top ten tuesday

So I skipped quite a few Tuesdays these past 2 months but I am back on the wagon! A perfect week to start Top Ten Tuesday because this week’s topic is Top Ten 2014 Releases I Meant To Read But Didn’t Get To. There is a lot of 2014 releases I unfortunately did not get to last year so my top ones will make this list.

Since Last Summer by Joanna Philbin                  Nantucket Red by Leila Howland

                 18634795                               18453185

I read and loved both of the first novels of the above series and am so mad at myself that I have not read their sequels yet. I will definitely be reading these two soon.

Toxic by Sara Shepard                                                    Vicious by Sara Shepard

                                  18599776                                            20958250

Get Even by Gretchen McNeil                                   Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson

                      20483075                                                         18189606

Two authors I absolutely love and can’t wait to read their new titles.

Side Effects May Vary by Julie Murphy                               We Were Liars by E. Lockhart

               18053148                                              16143347

I’ve heard nothing but good things about both these books that were on my TBR list last year and that I never got around to reading.

Say Her Name by James Dawson                                 Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas

18621200                                          19732381

These both have been on my TBR list last year and I finally got both for Christmas because they had to be ordered from Book Depository since they haven’t (or at the time weren’t) published in the US.

Pointe by Brandy Colbert                                                  Feral by Holly Schindler

13360957                                           15782742

These two I forgot about for a while but they are both ones I cannot wait to read.

My Last Kiss by Bethany Neal

18465608

I have ordered this book 4 times, yes 4 times, and have yet to ever receive it in the mail. I have always been refunded after getting an email saying they are out of stock or they can’t find it or it was lost in the mail. I want to read this so bad! Hopefully the fifth time will be the charm.

So those are my 2014 releases that I never got around to reading. I couldn’t keep it down to 10 books so I had to add 3 extra. I’m hoping I get around to reading all 13 within the next 2 months, but knowing me it probably won’t happen.

This week’s Top Ten Tuesday topic is, Top Authors I’ve Only Read One Book From But NEED to Read More, and there is a really good chance that I m not even going to come close to ten authors. If I read a book that I really like, I tend to rent or buy more of that author’s books. There are only a few authors that I can think of right now that I have only read one of their books that I liked and want to read more. Anyhow, Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by The Broke and the Bookish. As I mentioned earlier, this week’s topic is…

Top Authors I’ve Only Read One Book From But NEED to Read More

1.) Deb Caletti – Surprisingly I have only read one of her books, The Nature of Jade, but I loved it and have since purchased 3 more of her books, I just haven’t had a chance to read any of them yet.

2.) Angie Stanton – I loved Snapshot and really want to read the first Jamieson Brothers book, Rock and a Hard Place, along with Royally Lost and Snowed Over.

3.) Michelle Dalton – Loved Sixteenth Summer, bought Fifteenth Summer and want to read Pulled Under.

4.) Nina de Gramont – Loved her book, Every Little Thing In the World and cannot wait to read The Boy I Love.

5.) Jennifer E. Smith – I really enjoyed This is What Happy Looks Like and I do have her other book, The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight.

6.) Ransom Riggs – I seriously need to hurry up and read Hollow City.

7.) Abigail Haas – OMG loved Dangerous Girls and cannot wait until Dangerous Boys comes out in paperback.

8.) Gretchen McNeil – She wrote my all time favorite YA thriller, Ten, and I really need to read more of her books.

9.) Joanna Philbin – Need to get a copy of the sequel, Since Last Summer.

10.) Leila Howland – Same as above…need to get a copy of the sequel, Nantucket Red.

Well I guess it wasn’t as hard as I had expected. A few of the authors I only have interest in reading the sequels to the books I have already read but figured they still count for this list.

This week’s topic may be the easiest for me yet. It is going to include both published and non-published books because there are a lot of books that are coming out this fall, winter and next spring that I absolutely cannot wait to read but obviously do not yet own. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and their topic this week is:

Top Ten Books I Really Want To Read But Don’t Own Yet

1.) They All Fall Down by Roxanne St. Claire – This is my top most anticipated releases this fall

20527879

2.) Since Last Summer by Joanna Philbin – I own and have read the first and really want to read the sequel

wowsls

3.) Nantucket Red by Leila Howland – Same as above

18453185

4.) Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge – Has been on my TBR list for a few months now

15839984

5.) The Murder Complex by Lindsay Cummings – Has also been on my TBR list for a few months

13576132

6.) Broken Hearts, Fences and Other Things to Mend by Katie Finn – I love summer based books

18525657

7.) P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han – Sequel to To All the Boy’s I’ve Loved Before (pic of book 1)

15749186

9.) Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas – Author of Dangerous Girls, need I say more

19732381

10.) Cruel Summer by James Dawson – Sounds amazing, have to order from Book Depository

16275049

There are so many more books that I really want to read but either don’t own the book or haven’t borrowed it from my library yet. These are definitely my top ten though and I am hoping to own all of them by the end of this year (they are all on my birthday/Christmas wishlist).

Wow, so I just realized I haven’t posted anything since last Tuesday. This new job has me going crazy though, and in pursuit of a second job as well. Anyhow, I am going to try to get back on top of everything. I did just finish a book Sunday that I loved. I will be posting a review on it this week since I am off the next couple of days! (Yay!) So today is my favorite blogging day, Top Ten Tuesdays. I love making lists and I think that’s why I enjoy Tuesdays the most. Top Ten Tuesday topics are always thought up by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is: Top Ten Books On My Summer TBR List. Sorry because some of these books may be repeats from last week’s list, but that is only because I am so excited to read them.

1.) Nantucket Red by Lelia Howland

2.) Since Last Summer by Joanna Philbin

3.) Thirty Sunsets by Christine Hurley Deriso

4.) Summer of Yesterday by Gabby Triana

5.) Let’s Get Lost by Adi Alsaid

6.) Through to You by Lauren Barnholdt

7.) Pretty Little Liars: Toxic by Sara Shepard

8.) Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson

9.) What I Thought Was True by Huntley Fitzpatrick

10.) After the End by Amy Plum (Had to throw one distopia in the list!)

And a random list of more books on my summer TBR list because let’s face it, there is no way I only have ten on my list…

-Side Effects May Vary – Julie Murphy

-The Program and The Treatment – Suzanne Young

-Hollow City – Ransom Riggs

-The Beginning of Everything – Robyn Schneider

-We Were Liars – E. Lockhart

-The Geography of You and Me – Jennifer E. Smith

-Rock and a Hard Place, Royally Lost, Love ‘Em or Leave ‘Em, Dream Chaser, Snowed Over – Angie Stanton

-Getting Over Garrett Delaney, Sophomore Switch, The Anti-Prom, Jane Austen Goes to Hollywood – Abby McDonald

-Smart Girls Get What They Want – Sarah Strohmeyer

-The Prince of Venice Beach – Blake Nelson

Okay I am going to leave it at that even though there are plenty more books I could add. I am hoping I can read most of these before summer is over, but if not, at least by the end of the year.

Yay my first Top Ten Tuesday since I’ve been back! And this is definitely one of my favorite Top Ten Tuesdays as well because if you know me, you know I am a sucker for summery, beachy books. As always, Top Ten Tuesdays are hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is….

Top Ten Books That Should Be In Your Beach Bag or Ten Books That Will Be In My Beach Bag This Summer

(Warning I may exceed ten books and all books will have a beach or summer theme to them)

1.) The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy by Jenny Han – Absolutely perfect books for the summer and beach and if you haven’t read any or all of them, add that on your summer bucket list and you can thank me later.

2.) Five Summers by Una LaMarche – I’m a sucker for a good summer camp story too and this one was soooo good. Seriously, put it in your beach bag!

3.) Rules of Summer by Joanna Philbin (and I’m definitely putting the sequel Since Last Summer in my own bag) – Once again just staying with the summer theme and when there’s a sequel it makes me happy because that means the story isn’t over yet.

4.) Nantucket Blue and Nantucket Red (although I have not read the sequel yet) by Leila Howard – Just like Rules of Summer, a great summer book and now has a sequel. Yay!

5.) Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson – All you Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour Fans, you really need to read her second book. Warning though, wear your sunglasses when reading because you may shed a tear…or many in my case.

6.) Any of Hailey Abbott’s books (My top choices are Boy Crazy, Flirting With Boys and Getting Lost With Boys) – All of her books are summer based and not too long so they are the perfect beach read.

7.) Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler – If you have never picked this book up I urge you to go and buy it and read it ASAP. It’s really good.

8.) Cruel Summer and Laguna Cove by Alyson Noel – Her books are also fairly short and both of these make good beach reads.

9.)Snapshot by Angie Stanton – Surprise another summer camp book, but this one is really good and it follows the characters after summer camp is over. It’s a companion to another one of her books as well.

10.) Lost Summer by Alex McAulay – This is a good beach read that is a bit of a thriller too. (Bonus if you’re staying in or have been to the Outer Banks because you’ll know the fictional references. Also it’s $18 new on Amazon. I bought mine for a penny used in good condition and paid $4 total with shipping.)

11.) Dangerous Girls by Abigail Haas – I just finished this book and oh my god it was good. I finished it in two days because I couldn’t put it down and didn’t until I went to sleep. It’s a mystery and although it’s a little long it’s an easy read. *I’ll be posting a review after this post.*

12.) Moonglass by Jessi Kirby – Loved, loved, loved this book. It was short and sweet and takes place on the beach.

13.) The Last Song by Nicholas Sparks – Obviously this is a good beach read and the movie is pretty good as well.

14.) Things I Can’t Forget by Miranda Kenneally – Summer camp again but goes on after camp is done. Really really good. In fact I am buying it right now. (Rented from the library.)

15.) Sleepaway Girls and Summer State of Mind by Jen Calonita – Two great books that go hand in hand and make for perfect beach books.

So that is all of the books I can think of for now. They are all great books to bring on the beach and I will probably reread some of them while I am at the beach myself this summer.

Waiting on Wednesday 01/23/2014

wow

Since Last Summer by Joanna Philbin

wowsls

Expected publication: June 3,2014

I loved the first book, Rules of Summer, and had no idea there was going to be a sequel to it. Although I don’t remember exactly everything that happened in Rules of Summer, since I originally read it months ago, I do remember loving the story line and the characters. Plus it is a summer novel and if you read my Top Ten Tuesday from yesterday, you saw how my tenth wish was more summer novels and I have quite a few more I am waiting for this year besides this one so it seems as my wish may have been granted!

In Rules of Summer, Rory has accepted the position of an errand girl for the Rules who are a extremely wealthy family living in a beachfront mansion in East Hampton. She is advised by the other staff members to not socialize with the family members, which is definitely easier said than done. Isabel Rule, the youngest child of the Rule family, is stifled by her friends and her family’s country club scene and decides this year to get involved in a romance with a guy who her parents would never approve of and Isabel plans on bringing Rory along for the ride. Rory has a budding summer romance of her own that may or may not jeopardize her new friendship with Isabel. Rules of Summer is told in two different point of views, Rory’s and Isabel’s, but is pretty easy to follow along and not get confused.

**IF YOU HAVE NOT READ RULES OF SUMMER AND NOW ARE INTERESTED IN READING IT, I SUGGEST NOT READING THE SUMMARY OF THE SEQUEL AS IT WILL GIVE AWAY SPOILERS!!**

In the sequel..”Rory McShane should be excited to spend the summer in East Hampton with Connor Rule, her generous, smart, cute boyfriend. After all, Rory’s no longer the hired help at the Rule family mansion on the beach, and she and Connor have made it through a year of long-distance dating. But now, in the months leading up to college, Rory can’t help but wonder if she really belongs in Connor’s world.

Isabel Rule is still trying to get over Mike, the devastatingly sexy surfer who broke her heart last summer. Enter Evan, an aspiring filmmaker who’s kind, funny, and crushing on Isabel. He’d be the perfect summer fling — so why can’t she seem to forget about Mike?” (Taken from the book.)

I am really excited for Since Last Summer to come out, and am really hoping that maybe I’ll find an e-ACR to review before it is released. If not, I am definitely pre-ordering it and Since Last Summer will be an exception to buying a book at full price. At least by then it will be summer time and it will serve as a perfect beach read.
