top ten tuesday

Yay for a freebie week! Since this week we can choose any topic for our Top Ten Tuesday post I am going to do…

Top Ten Books I Want to See Made Into Movie

Of course we are talking in a perfect world where the movie would not butcher the book and would be absolutely perfect and not missing a single detail.

7.) Compulsion by Martina Boone

8.) The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

10.) The Vault of Dreamers by Caragh M. O’Brien

And of course there were a few I had to leave out that didn’t make the top ten but deserve an honorable mention…

 15777797 20702025 13260536 22456909 20549288 12753231

8535449 20821376 16059149 7664334 18775628 18285437

And these last two would have made the top ten but they are currently being made into movies…

Mass Book Review

book review2

I know I said sometime last week that I was going to do a post with multiple book reviews and here it is. I have seven books that I have read and do not feel like I could give a good, descriptive review on each one, not to mention that I would get impatient after the first two and most likely not finish the rest. So here are the seven books that I have read within the past month. I will include a paragraph review for each as well as the summary and rating.

Review 1

20527879Title and Author: They All Fall Down by Roxanne St. Claire

Rating: 4hearts

What This Book Is About

Every year, the lives of ten girls at Vienna High are transformed. All because of the list. Kenzie Summerall can’t imagine how she’s been voted onto a list of the hottest girls in school, but when she lands at number five, her average life becomes dazzling. Doors open to the best parties, new friends surround her, the cutest jock in school is after her. This is the power of the list. If you’re on it, your life changes. If you’re on it this year? Your life ends. The girls on the list have started to die, one by one. Is it a coincidence? A curse? Or is the list in the hands of a killer? Time is running out for Kenzie, but she’s determined to uncover the deadly secret of the list…before her number’s up.

My Thoughts on This Book

I had waited months for this book to come out and when it finally did I tore into it. It wasn’t exactly what I was expecting from the summary, but in a good way. It totally took me by surprise and I loved it. The twist was completely unexpected and shocking. They All Fall Down kept me on the edge of my seat and I am praying there will be a sequel.

Review 2

17343998Title and Author: Six Months Later by Natalie D. Richards

Rating: 5hearts

What This Book Is About

She has everything she’s ever wanted. But not her memory…When Chloe fell asleep in study hall, it was the middle of May. When she wakes up, snow is on the ground and she can’t remember the last six months of her life. Before, she’d been a mediocre student. Now, she’s on track for valedictorian and being recruited by Ivy League schools. Before, she never had a chance with super jock Blake. Now he’s her boyfriend. Before, she and Maggie were inseparable. Now her best friend won’t speak to her. What happened to her? Remembering the truth could be more dangerous than she knows…

My Thoughts on This Book

I went to Barnes and Noble for a different book that they ended up not having. Not wanting to leave empty handed I picked up this book (and the book in my next review). I had looked at Six Months Later many times and only just now got around to reading it and I really enjoyed it. I have had a thing for YA mysteries and thrillers lately and this one is definitely at the top of my list. Six Months Later kept me turning the pages to find out what was going to happen next.

Review 3

17520996Title and Author: Broken by CJ Lyons

Rating: 4hearts

What This Book Is About

WOULD YOU PUT YOUR LIFE ON THE LINE TO BE NORMAL? Diagnosed with a rare and untreatable heart condition, Scarlet has come to terms with the fact that she’s going to die. Literally of a broken heart. It could be tomorrow, or it could be next year. But the clock is ticking… All Scarlet asks is for a chance to attend high school—even if just for a week-a chance to be just like everyone else. But Scarlet can feel her heart beating out of control with each slammed locker and vicious taunt. Is this normal? Really? Yet there’s more going on than she knows. And finding out the truth might just kill Scarlet before her heart does…

My Thoughts on This Book

I rented Broken from the library before and didn’t get a chance to read it before I had to return it. I bought it when I went to Barnes and Noble and as soon as I started reading I was sucked in. My own heart broke for Scarlett and how she was treated. Towards the end of the book I kind of had an idea of what the truth was. I don’t think it was obvious and it was still shocking how the book ended.

Review 4

12665819Title and Author: Another Little Piece by Kate Karyus Quinn

Rating: 3hearts

What This Book Is About

On a cool autumn night, Annaliese Rose Gordon stumbled out of the woods and into a high school party. She was screaming. Drenched in blood. Then she vanished. A year later, Annaliese is found wandering down a road hundreds of miles away. She doesn’t know who she is. She doesn’t know how she got there. She only knows one thing: She is not the real Annaliese Rose Gordon. Now Annaliese is haunted by strange visions and broken memories. Memories of a reckless, desperate wish . . . a bloody razor . . . and the faces of other girls who disappeared. Piece by piece, Annaliese’s fractured memories come together to reveal a violent, endless cycle that she will never escape—unless she can unlock the twisted secrets of her past.

My Thoughts on This Book

I bought this book over a year ago and read it this year around Halloween because it seemed like a creepy mystery. I was not expecting it to have a paranormal twist to it though and that twist almost made the book confusing to understand. It wasn’t nearly as creepy or thrilling as the summary made it sound but it also wasn’t horrible.

Review 5

15777797Title and Author: Truth or Dare by Jacqueline Green

Rating: 5hearts

What This Book Is About

When a simple round of truth or dare spins out of control, three girls find it’s no longer a party game. It’s do or die. It all started on a whim: the game was a way for Tenley Reed to reclaim her popularity, a chance for perfect Caitlin “Angel” Thomas to prove she’s more than her Harvard application. Loner Sydney Morgan wasn’t even there; she was hiding behind her camera like usual. But when all three start receiving mysterious dares long after the party has ended, they’re forced to play along—or risk exposing their darkest secrets. How far will Tenley, Caitlin and Sydney go to keep the truth from surfacing? And who’s behind this twisted game?

My Thoughts on This Book

I also bought this book a year ago and just read it recently and I absolutely LOVED it. It has definitely been one of the best thriller/mysteries I have read ever. It took me two days to read and I am currently waiting for the sequel to come in the mail and am looking forward to the third book coming out as well.

Review 6

12013031Title and Author: The Night She Disappeared by April Henry

Rating: 5hearts

What This Book Is About

Gabie drives a Mini Cooper. She also works part time as a delivery girl at Pete’s Pizza. One night, Kayla—another delivery girl—goes missing. To her horror, Gabie learns that the supposed kidnapper had asked if the girl in the Mini Cooper was working that night. Gabie can’t move beyond the fact that Kayla’s fate was really meant for her, and she becomes obsessed with finding Kayla. She teams up with Drew, who also works at Pete’s. Together, they set out to prove that Kayla isn’t dead—and to find her before she is.

My Thoughts on This Book

The Night She Disappeared is so far my favorite April Henry novel. This book gave me chills at some points and I loved how short yet detailed and well written this book was. I loved the characters (strong female lead) as well. It was a quick thriller and I am definitely now a fan of April Henry.

Review 7

16059396Title and Author: The Girl Who Was Supposed to Die by April Henry

Rating: 4hearts

What This Book Is About

“Take her out back and finish her off.” She doesn’t know who she is. She doesn’t know where she is, or why. All she knows when she comes to in a ransacked cabin is that there are two men arguing over whether or not to kill her. And that she must run.

My Thoughts on This Book

While not my favorite April Henry book, I still really enjoyed it and it made me understand why people rave about her books. It was quick yet still packed full of action. I also loved the characters and the relationship between the two. I am looking forward to reading her other books now.

So there you go, seven books with seven ratings and small reviews. They are not in the order I read them though. I will be doing individual reviews from now on. I had to do this massive post to get caught up.

Top Ten Tuesday 11/18/2014

top ten tuesday

Wow so it’s been a couple of shaky weeks since the end of October. I go to college five days a week, had to unfortunately drop one of my five classes, and I had been working close to 40 hours a week. I apologize for not keeping up on my posts. I have read a good amount of books between then and now and will hopefully get around to posting a review on all of them. Of course after so long it is a little difficult to review a book but if it comes to that I may just do a post with the titles and my rating for those books. I need to start keeping a book journal again so I can keep track of what I read when I’m done each book. I promise there will be more reviews now. I finally got my hours cut back (and yes I am happy about that) so I have a good amount of time in between my classes and when I have to be at work.

Now onto this week’s Top Ten Tuesday. I really like the topic this week because I am big on series/trilogies, so there are a good amount of sequels I am looking forward to. I’m not going to keep this list exclusive to books that have not come out yet because there are quite a few sequels that have been published and I just haven’t bought them yet. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish and this week’s topic is…

Top Ten Sequels I Can’t Wait To Get

1.) P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han – This is the sequel to To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before. Loved the first book as well as Jenny Han’s other books as well.

15749186

2.) Fire with Fire by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian – Back to Jenny Han…I really liked Burn for Burn but haven’t had the chance to get Fire with Fire yet.

10662420

3.) Secrets and Lies by Jacqueline Green – Truth or Dare is definitely on my top ten list for this year and I am so anxious to read Secrets and Lies.

18431723

4.) Toxic (Pretty Little Liars #15) by Sara Shepard – I guess this isn’t considered a sequel but I’m still keeping it on my list. I am so happy that the series is finally coming to an end and cannot wait to see how it all ends.

18599776

5.) The Good Girls by Sara Shepard – Sequel to The Perfectionists and am sooo excited for this one to be released. I absolutely loved the first book and cannot wait to see where this series goes.

23171368

6.) Never Have I Ever (The Lying Game #2) by Sara Shepard – I started this series but have not got around to getting past the first book but I really want to read the whole series.

9266793

7.) The Evolution of Mara Dyer by Michelle Hodkin – I read the first book and was kind of confused but would love to reread it and then continue the trilogy because I hear so many good things about it.

13643567

8.) The Companion Novel to The Fine Art of Pretending by Rachel Harris – Not an actual sequel but I’m including it because it’s a companion novel and will have feature the same characters. I loved TFAOP and cannot wait for more.

17696131

9.) From Bad to Cursed by Katie Alender – I read Bad Girls Don’t Die a while ago and enjoyed it and would really like to read the other two in the trilogy.

9004758

10.) The Infinite Sea by Rick Yancey – Loved, loved, loved The 5th Wave and cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel.

18249281

11.) Persuasion (The Heirs of Watson Island #2) by Martina Boone – I had to add a #11 because this is probably the most anticipated sequel on this list. Compulsion is so far my favorite book I have read in 2014 (or possibly ever) and so I am very excited for it’s sequel as well as the rest of the series.

20759498

This was actually harder than I thought. I own a lot of series or first books in a series that I haven’t read yet. I hate starting a series if I can’t continue it. I’m sure there is probably more I haven’t thought of but these are definitely the ones I am looking forward to the most.

top ten tuesday

I unfortunately missed out on last week’s Top Ten Tuesday which I am upset about because I really liked the topic. This week’s topic, Top Ten Books I Want To Reread, is a good one too because there is so many books that I would love to reread if I had the time. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish.

Top Ten Books I Want To Reread

1.) The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han – I have read and reread this trilogy countless amounts of times.

2.) Twenty Boy Summer by Sarah Ockler – Also have read this book so many times.

3.) Truth or Dare by Jacqueline Green

4.) Compulsion by Martina Boone

5.) The Bargaining by Carly Anne West

6.) Appaloosa Summer by Tudor Robins

7.) Liv, Forever by Amy Talkington

8.) Magnolia by Kristi Cook

9.) The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

10.) Amy and Roger’s Epic Detour by Morgan Matson

So that list was super easy to come up with. I know some people cannot or do not reread books but if I absolutely loved the book, I will reread it when I have some free time.

As promised, I am posting my Top Ten Tuesday post today. Unfortunately I didn’t finish my review that I wanted to post on Sunday. I am now scheduling it for this coming Thursday. I should have another review up on Saturday, Monday, and Wednesday. As always Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is…

11366397

Not all of these series are “new” (as in they were released within the past 2 years) but they are all new to me because I haven’t read them yet. There’s a few other series that I want to start as well that I have heard good things about but unfortunately there wasn’t any more room on the list 😦 I’m actually beginning or planning on beginning Truth or Dare tomorrow and I have the first books in 7 out of the 10 series I have listed so I should probably read them and get into the series.
