Waiting On Wednesday: 02/17/2016

waiting on wednesday

I haven’t done a Waiting on Wednesday post in I don’t know how long, so I thought why not do one this week? There are so many books coming out in 2016 that I am highly anticipating but this one may take the top spot. I read this author’s other young adult book that came out last year (2015) and absolutely loved it. I was beyond thrilled to see she had another young adult mystery book coming out as well but was disappointed that I will be waiting until August to read it. Here is my first Waiting on Wednesday book of 2016:

The Telling by Alexandra Sirowy

Expected Publication: August 2, 2016

Lana used to know what was real.

That was before when her life was small and quiet.
Her golden step-brother, Ben, was alive, she could only dream about bonfiring with the populars, their wooded island home was idyllic, she could tell the truth from lies, and Ben’s childhood stories were firmly in her imagination.

Then came after.

After has Lana boldly kissing her crush, jumping into the water from too high up, and living with nerve and mischief. But after also has horrors, deaths that only make sense in fairy tales, and terrors from a past Lana thought long forgotten: Love, blood, and murder.

Alexandra Sirowy’s other young adult mystery, The Creeping, came out in August 2015. It was original and kept me turning page after page to find out the shocking ending. If you haven’t read The Creeping yet and you’re into young adult mysteries and thrillers, I’d definitely recommend you read The Creeping and adding The Telling to your TBR list.

My Thoughts on This Book

SERIOUSLY I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL THIS BOOK IS PUBLISHED! Only 25 more days and I can finally buy this book and get completely absorbed in the story. I love young adult thrillers and mysteries so I am certainly excited for They All Fall Down. I feel like it is totally and completely going to deliver the thrill factor and that it will become one of my new YA thriller favorites.

Is They All Fall Down on your TBR-list? If not, now that you read the summary are you interested in reading it? If anyone has read an ARC copy I’d love to know what you would rate it out of 5 stars 🙂 Thanks!

First There Was Forever by Juliana Romano

Expected Publication: April 14, 2015

Perfect for fans of Jenny Han’s The Summer I Turned Prettyand Huntley Fitzpatrick’s My Life Next Door, Juliana Romano’s expressive debut is an absorbing and bittersweet story about first love, first loss, and the friends that carry us through it all.

Lima and Hailey have always been best friends: Lima shy and sensitive, Hailey funny and free-spirited. But Hailey abandons Lima to party with the popular kids and pursue Nate, her disinterested crush. As their friendship falters, Lima and Nate begin spending more time together. And before Lima knows what she’s feeling, she and Nate do something irreversible. Something that would hurt Hailey….if she knew it happened.

Lima thinks she’s saving her friendship by lying, but she’s only buying time. As the secrets stack up, Lima is forced to make a choice: between her best friend forever, and the boy who wasn’t meant to be hers.

(Summary from Goodreads)

While browsing books on Edelweiss, I came across First There Was Forever and the cover caught my eye. After reading the description I cannot wait until this book is published. It sounds so good and I can’t wait to see what happens between the characters.

What book(s) are you looking forward to reading when they come out?

Waiting on Wednesday #2 07/02/14

I know I already posted my Waiting on Wednesday, but I just found another book that I am beyond excited to come out and feel like I can’t wait a week to share it. For all of you who loved Dangerous Girls and who have read my review on it, I have the best news ever…there is going to be another book coming out called…

Dangerous Boys by Abigail Haas

Publication Date: Unsure for the US, August for the UK

Three teens venture into the abandoned Monroe estate one night; hours later, only two emerge from the burning wreckage. Chloe drags one Reznick brother to safety, unconscious and bleeding; the other is left to burn, dead in the fire. But which brother survives? And is his death a tragic accident? Desperate self-defense? Or murder?
Chloe is the only one with the answers. As the fire rages, and police and parents demand the truth, she struggles to piece together the story of how they got there-a story of jealousy, twisted passion, and the darkness that lurks behind even the most beautiful of faces…

(Summary from Goodreads)

After finishing Dangerous Girls, I was really hoping there would be more psychological thrillers to come and thank goodness there is! It is not a sequel though, just another psychological thriller from the same author. I cannot wait to read and review this book, but hopefully it will be released in the US in August as well or soon after because I’m not sure how long I can wait. I currently cannot find it on Amazon’s website (in the US), so if it’s possible I may just have to preorder it from Amazon UK and pay the crazy shipping.

Are you excited to read Dangerous Boys?

Waiting on Wednesday 07/02/14

It has been a few months since I’ve done a Waiting on Wednesday post, but yesterday on Goodreads I found a book that is being published in October and I cannot wait for it to hit the shelves.

They All Fall Down by Roxanne St. Claire

Publication Date: October 14, 2014

Pretty Little Liars meets Final Destination in this YA psychological thriller that will have readers’ hearts racing right till the very end!

Every year, the lives of ten girls at Vienna High are transformed.

All because of the list.

Kenzie Summerall can’t imagine how she’s been voted onto a list of the hottest girls in school, but when she lands at number five, her average life becomes dazzling. Doors open to the best parties, new friends surround her, the cutest jock in school is after her.

This is the power of the list. If you’re on it, your life changes.

If you’re on it this year? Your life ends.

(Summary from Goodreads)

A new, original YA thriller? Sign me right up and on October 14, I guarantee you, you will find my nose in this book. I have been saying in my more recent posts that I have been waiting and looking for a YA thriller/mystery and it seems as though I have finally found what I have been looking for. Unfortunately I will be waiting to read They All Fall Down for quite a few months because it will not hit the shelves until October 14. Until then, I will be keeping my eye out for this book if it happens to pop up on NetGalley or First Reads on Goodreads.

Pulled Under (A Sixteenth Summer Novel) by Michelle Dalton

Expected Release Date: May 6, 2014

Summary: In the small town of Pearl Beach, Florida, Izzy Lucas needs only her surfboard and the water to be completely happy. She wants nothing to do with parties, popularity contests, or showing her face around the clichéd touristy hangouts. Izzy’s tight group of coworkers at the local surf shop have tried relentlessly to break shy Izzy out of her (sea)shell. But Izzy isn’t interested…until the day Ben Barker walks into the store.

Ben’s from the city. He’s cute, charming, and wants her help adjusting to beach town culture. As the weeks of surfing lessons and pizza shack visits fly by, Izzy and Ben realize their attraction goes beyond mere friendship. But Ben is only in town for three months, and Izzy wonders if this amazing guy is worth stepping out of her comfort zone for what might be the perfect summer romance—or her first heartbreak.

Waiting on Wednesdays may have become my least favorite blogging day, only because I don’t like being reminded that I have to wait for all of these books to come out. So in a way I guess it pisses me off a little bit because I want to read them now, not in a few months. Anyways, I’d still like to share with everyone my most anticipated books that are coming out within the next couple of minutes, so that is why I will continue posting every Wednesday. I almost skipped posting today though because I went and had a biopsy on my arm this afternoon and when I got home my arm was so sore. I figured I’d eat dinner, take some pain medication and go to bed. Well that was 5 hours ago, so I might as well post my Waiting on Wednesday for this week. I had been deciding between three different books for this week’s Waiting on Wednesdays and I decided to pick this one first. What made me choose Pulled Under was I have read Sixteen Summer by Michelle Dalton and I loved it. Obviously one because it’s a summer novel and I am obsessed with summer books, but I loved it for other reasons too. The summer romance portrayed in Sixteenth Summer was so..pure and realistic. It was strictly hanging out, walking on the beach, getting to know each other with some kissing here and there. I liked that the characters didn’t constantly have their hands all over each other like you see in some other romance novels. I am so excited for another Sixteenth Summer novel to come out even if it is with different characters. Also, with all the snow, freezing rain, ice, and freezing cold temperatures, I am just ready to crawl under my covers until spring and read summer-y books. I am excited for a new summer themed book coming out, as well as any others that will be released within the next few months, but this is my most anticipated summer book. I am hoping that the summer romance in Pulled Under is just as “clean” as it was in Sixteenth Summer, only because when the characters move so fast in the relationship and then for the rest of the book they are having sex every other chapter can be a little off putting. Plus, with the summer romances there is always a problem, they end up fighting because one of them is leaving at the end of summer, they just plain break up at the end of summer but are miserable the final week, or sometimes it ends happy and they agree to do a long distance relationship….which usually calls for a sequel where they end up breaking up. I feel like I’m now ranting more than getting all excited for this book, but I am exhausted so I will end my post with saying I am very, very excited for Pulled Under to be released. I plan on reading Michelle Dalton’s other novel Fifteenth Summer within the next month, and if you love books about summer romances, romances in general, summer themed books like me, or you’re around a younger age (12-14), I’d definitely recommend you reading Sixteenth Summer by Michelle Dalton and then you too will probably be waiting for Pulled Under to come out in May.

Since Last Summer by Joanna Philbin

Expected publication: June 3,2014

I loved the first book, Rules of Summer, and had no idea there was going to be a sequel to it. Although I don’t remember exactly everything that happened in Rules of Summer, since I originally read it months ago, I do remember loving the story line and the characters. Plus it is a summer novel and if you read my Top Ten Tuesday from yesterday, you saw how my tenth wish was more summer novels and I have quite a few more I am waiting for this year besides this one so it seems as my wish may have been granted!

In Rules of Summer, Rory has accepted the position of an errand girl for the Rules who are a extremely wealthy family living in a beachfront mansion in East Hampton. She is advised by the other staff members to not socialize with the family members, which is definitely easier said than done. Isabel Rule, the youngest child of the Rule family, is stifled by her friends and her family’s country club scene and decides this year to get involved in a romance with a guy who her parents would never approve of and Isabel plans on bringing Rory along for the ride. Rory has a budding summer romance of her own that may or may not jeopardize her new friendship with Isabel. Rules of Summer is told in two different point of views, Rory’s and Isabel’s, but is pretty easy to follow along and not get confused.

In the sequel..”Rory McShane should be excited to spend the summer in East Hampton with Connor Rule, her generous, smart, cute boyfriend. After all, Rory’s no longer the hired help at the Rule family mansion on the beach, and she and Connor have made it through a year of long-distance dating. But now, in the months leading up to college, Rory can’t help but wonder if she really belongs in Connor’s world.

Isabel Rule is still trying to get over Mike, the devastatingly sexy surfer who broke her heart last summer. Enter Evan, an aspiring filmmaker who’s kind, funny, and crushing on Isabel. He’d be the perfect summer fling — so why can’t she seem to forget about Mike?” (Taken from the book.)

I am really excited for Since Last Summer to come out, and am really hoping that maybe I’ll find an e-ACR to review before it is released. If not, I am definitely pre-ordering it and Since Last Summer will be an exception to buying a book at full price. At least by then it will be summer time and it will serve as a perfect beach read.
